The Origin Story of Libélula Primary Care
Turning Life Experience Into Better Patient Care
Before becoming a physician, I built my career in places that might seem far removed from healthcare. I worked for GameStop and CompUSA, including at stores that ranked among the highest-performing locations in their respective franchises at the time. Success required staying ahead of rapidly changing technology, learning new products before competitors, and delivering exceptional customer service.
Later, while training as a front-end manager at a grocery store in Puerto Rico, I learned leadership, operations, conflict resolution, and team management. Looking back, those experiences taught me lessons I still use today: listen carefully, solve problems proactively, adapt to change, and never stop learning.

Why I Founded a Boise Primary Care named Libélula Primary Care
As a bilingual Puerto Rican physician trained through the University of Washington Boise Internal Medicine Residency Program, I entered medicine to build meaningful relationships and help people live healthier lives. Yet I often saw patients struggling with long wait times, rushed visits, and healthcare systems that felt impersonal and difficult to navigate.
I believed there had to be a better way.
I founded Libélula Primary Care to create the kind of medical practice I would want for my own family: one built on trust, accessibility, continuity, and strong physician-patient relationships. I wanted patients to have time to ask questions, feel heard, and partner with a physician who truly knows them.
Building a Practice That Puts People First
Starting a Boise primary care medical practice required me to become an entrepreneur as well as a physician. In the first months, I negotiated laboratory pricing, researched medication purchasing options, evaluated vendors, and learned firsthand how to run a business. Not every decision was perfect, but every challenge became an opportunity to learn and improve.
Today, Libélula Primary Care provides personalized, bilingual primary care focused on prevention, evidence-based medicine, and continuity of care. We also engage with the community through partnerships, health education, and inclusive events that promote wellness and belonging.
The name Libélula, Spanish for dragonfly, represents transformation, resilience, and growth. Those qualities reflect both my journey and the journeys of the patients I am privileged to serve.
Looking Ahead
Libélula Primary Care is the result of every chapter of my professional life, from retail leadership and customer service to medicine and entrepreneurship. Each experience reinforced a simple belief: people deserve healthcare that treats them as individuals, not numbers.
My goal remains the same today as when I opened the practice: to provide compassionate, accessible healthcare that empowers people to live healthier, fuller lives.
